Luke's Nursery

When we started planning Luke's nursery I knew I didn't want there to be a theme, but I wanted to have a color scheme.  I didn't really plan the yellow and blue, I just kept finding stuff that I liked in these colors.  I really like simple decor and I don't like there to be a lot of clutter, so we just got a few little signs and made a couple DIY wall hangings.  I have yet to find a mobile that I like, so it looks a little bare in the corner still.

My very first baby purchase was Luke's white Jenny Lind crib, I bought it right after I found out I was pregnant.  I have loved this crib for a long time and it didn't matter if I was having a boy or a girl, they were getting this crib!

I got Luke's yellow herringbone patterned blanket and changing pad cover from Modern Baby Design.  The wood letter L was a DIY, my mom cut it out and I stained it dark.

The wood arrows were another DIY project, I love how they turned out!  The "Love you to the moon and back" sign is from a small home decor store in town and the blue dresser is from IKEA, it is the 8 drawer HEMNES dresser.

The little airplane clock and the sign were both baby shower gifts and his elephant chair is from Pottery Barn.  For right now I have been keeping Luke's books in a little wood crate from Joann's Fabric but I would really like to get a bookcase or some little shelves to hang on the wall to display them.

Lucas Update

Last week Luke had his 4 month well child check and shots at our Dr.'s office.  He did really well!  He is 14 pounds 9 ounces and 24.5 inches long, that puts him in the 50th percentile across the board.  Our dr. gave us the go ahead to start feeding him rice cereal and some stage one baby food, I am so excited!  I went to the store after the appointment and got a few pouches of Plum Organics fruit and veggie baby food and a box of Earth's Best Organic baby oatmeal.  I did some research and read a few other mom's blogs comparing baby rice cereal and baby oatmeal and decided to go with oatmeal since it has more nutritional value than the rice cereal.  The oatmeal also has iron, and since my kid will NOT take his vitamin drops with iron, I figured he needed to get it somehow.

I have been feeding Luke his baby oatmeal once a day in the evening since his appointment and he really seems to like it!  We will move up to two times a day in a week or so then add in some fruit and veggies.  He doesn't quite have the hang of eating off of a spoon yet, but he gets better every time!  I love feeding him, it is so fun to see the looks on his face. I can't believe how fast he is growing!  Zack and I are always saying how proud of him we are for the funniest things, like grabbing a toy, or eating his oatmeal and laughing, we just love this kid so damn much, it's unbelievable.

Luke is officially sleeping in his pack and play in our room.  It took me long enough to make the transition!  Luke's sleeping arrangements have been all over the place since he was born.  He started out sleeping in his mamaRoo, then he slept with us in our bed or on one of our chests on the couch (I hated that period of time!  I was always stressed and worried but we could not get him to sleep anywhere else), then he slept in his swing for a month or so and I finally decided I was going to move him into his pack and play.  I really thought this was going to be a hard transition, but it wasn't at all!  I just went through our normal bedtime routine and set him in his pack n play and he slept for 7 hours.  Add this mess to the list of things we will do differently with our next kid!
